WELCOME TO SWAN BOTHY

A hidden gem set in the rolling countryside of Ayrshire

Unique to Ayrshire, Swan Bothy offers dreamy Scottish comfort both inside and outside,
offering spectacular views whether from the spacious living room
and bedrooms or the luxury hot tub alongside the cottage.

Swan Bothy lies at the heart of Martnaham nature reserve on the edge of a two mile long loch - a stretch of water which is a haven for wildfowl and swans - fringed on the opposite shore by one of the last remaining oak woods in south west Scotland.

Set within extensive private grounds and enjoying magical views across the loch, visitors are steeped in nature as they relax into its rhythms away from everyday cares.

The granite built cottage once housed the gamekeeper, a netting loft and visiting carriages from Culzean Castle, home of the Marquess of Ailsa who enjoyed bringing picnic parties to this far flung corner of his estate.

The current owners, whose family have lived on the estate for nearly 100 years, created the comfortable retreat you find today.

Blending old with new, antique furnishings and art with top quality beds and mod cons, including a Bose sound system for a romantic sound track to your Scottish escape. The cottage is settled gracefully in the nature that envelops it and the stress of life drops away as the symphony of bird song assails the senses and time ceases to matter in the soft morning air.

‘I could easily live here. I loved waking up and looking out of my bedroom window every morning to see the different wildlife. ...several swans floating about on the waters edge over the other side of the loch.’

‘…beware of the night time visitors  knocking on windows in the early hours. We finally decided it was the birds trying to get flies off the windows - and it was!!!’

‘We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend a week’s holiday – with kids and grandparents – the cottage is beautiful, the surroundings spectacular, and the whole experience is one we will never forget.’ Singapore/Missouri

‘More than a holiday home, a home from home.’ Cranleigh, Surrey

‘It is such a pity that the cottage is such a long way from our home in western Australia. This has given us a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our Scottish Family, the first time for 30 years we have all been tighter.’

‘We came north to attend a wedding but this cottage was the icing on the cake.’ Leeds
